About

About Bridge Playbook

We built the modern, plain-English bridge resource we wished existed when we started — clear, structured and free of jargon.

Our mission: to make bridge feel approachable. Most bridge sites are cluttered, text-heavy and intimidating. We organise the same knowledge into a calm, guided learning path anyone can follow — from your very first hand through to competitive duplicate play.

Who writes Bridge Playbook

James Harrington

Lead Writer & Bridge Instructor

James has played competitive duplicate bridge for over thirty years, earning the rank of ACBL Life Master and competing at regional and sectional tournaments across the country. A former club director and accredited bridge teacher, he has spent the last decade teaching beginners and intermediate players — and noticed that nearly every bridge resource online assumed the reader already knew the game. Bridge Playbook is his answer to that problem: a structured, jargon-free guide written with the same care he brings to the table.

What we cover

Bridge Playbook covers the whole journey, from your first deal to competitive duplicate play:

Our editorial standards

We take accuracy and trust seriously. Every guide published on Bridge Playbook follows a clear editorial process:

  1. Research. Each topic is researched against authoritative bridge literature, official ACBL and WBF rules, and established teaching materials.
  2. Write in plain English. No jargon overload, no assumed knowledge. We explain every term we use — and link to our glossary for quick definitions.
  3. Fact-check. Bidding rules, scoring tables, convention mechanics and platform pricing are verified against primary sources before publication.
  4. Review and update. Guides are reviewed quarterly. Platform reviews have their pricing and feature details re-verified every three months so the information you read stays current. Every page shows its last-updated date.

How we stay independent

Our platform reviews are not sponsored, and we do not accept payment for a better rating. When we recommend a site or app, it is because it earned the spot. We have no commercial relationship with Bridge Base Online, Funbridge, RealBridge or any other platform we review. Pricing and feature details are verified quarterly so the information you read stays current.
